Could be there is a big Co Alliance Elevator here and in Valpo Co Alliance Fertilizer plant where the old
Chester Hybrid and Chester fertilizer was at. Back in the 60's thru the mid 90's  it was the home of the world largest hog marketing system Heinold Hog Market's. They sold out to IBP in 1993. Thanks again.

Replaced aqua stat and that fixed it. It's working fine now.  Thanks Slimjim and Mlappin!!!   I don't live to  far from you Mlappin, just south of Valparaiso, a little town called Kouts. Looks like winter is getting here this weekend and next week.  Thanks again!

Well normally if I have water flowing thru the heat exchanger it just kicks on the fan. If I bypass the heat exchanger then when it calls for heat it kicks on the furnace and it lights

They are both tied in to the same thermostat

« on: December 08, 2016, 09:15:31 AM »
I have had my boiler for 8 years and unless I'm losing it, which is possible. I was in the basement this mourning and my furnace kicked on, it actually lit and the fan kicked on. My boiler is running and everything is fine with it, temperature, flow, everything seems to be fine with it . Why, unless I'm forgetting something is the furnace lighting?  It should just kick on the fan. What's the problem?  Did I forget something?

Smitty33,
How old is your gasket???  My gasket is 5 years old and still seams to be pretty tight. I try to remember to run my glove all the way around it to knock any creosote off of it every time I fill but it may be to late for that. My dealer always ask's every year about it when I order my treatment and anode rod. Someone was asking Slim on here about a siliconed gasket that P&M has maybe if you need one he can help.

Thanks Dave,   Iv'e been on this forum long enough to know about having spare parts.   I have all spare parts but the way the wind was whipping around last night it would of did the same thing to them. The door was freezing over and the solenoid was icing up and damper was sticking open and the squirrel cage  was filling up with snow and ice and then would'nt turn on when it called for heat.  Yeah  It was a mess but thank the Lord that little laundry basket and screen and tape and bungy cord did the trick!!!! I did get a good night sleep and it's still working.

Thanks for your help.... I will be real fortunate if I don't have to replace the motor or the solenoid or both .
Went back out again and the damper was open but motor was'nt running so I gave it spin and it took off.

I thought about a heat lamp like in a hog house but, I think the blowing snow would burn the bulb out. I thought about panty hose or something but don't know about movement , I finally took a small ( I should say my wife) took a small clothes basket round and taped screen wire nylon around it and bungeed it  around the fan motor.  I also took a torch and got all the ice and snow off of it and dried it all off and then sprayed it with wd 40 so hopefully that will do the trick, don't know but will find out real soon !!!!

Having big blizzard here in  Indiana everything is shut down all county roads are closed. My problem is my damper door is freezing open and shut from the snow blowing around it so bad. You can't stand to be out there long. I went out there a little while ago it was calling for the fan to kick on and the fan was froze on it, I beat on it a little and it came on but it's going to be a  terrible long night if I have to go out like that all night and that's if the fan motor doesn't go out. Anyone have any suggestions?????  Can't really hang anything on it and tie it down either.
Supposed to get to -20 below tonight!!!

You know what??? There wasn't one thing wrong with what Victor just said. That's what's wrong with the good ole USA today. Those who take offense to religious comments will have more to worry about than the weather.           It's time for Christians to take a stand and not be pushed around anymore!!!!             STAND UP!!!!!
