General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Site Update and Moving Forward
« on: February 09, 2012, 06:51:41 AM »
Hey everyone,

We have successfully moved the site without losing any info.

I also just wanted to let everyone know that the message board is in good hands with the new owner.  He wants it to run everything just as it was run before, he knows the success and importance of the message board is in it's members and keeping things "as is".  He truly only wants the best for the message board and wants it to continue to grow and be successful.  If anyone has any suggestions for improving the forum, please comment here.  The new owner is very eager to keep everyone pleased.

General Discussion / Important Message
« on: February 03, 2012, 11:22:57 AM »
Dear Message Board Members,

I will be handing the message board and domain over to someone else to run and maintain.  First thing Monday morning I will be taking down the message board to transfer the domain name and message board over to the new owner.  Hopefully they will have it back up and running pretty quick.

I just want to thank everyone for a great run and making this message board what it is, when I started this in March of 2008, I honestly thought it would never turn into anything, I never thought we would even get any members. But look at it now it is a pretty big community of outdoor wood furnace users sharing there knowledge and experiences.

To all of those that donated money to keep the message board up and running, I will be issuing refunds today.

Thanks again to everyone, I really do appreciate everyone's efforts in making this message board what it is today.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Asking For Help
« on: January 11, 2012, 06:24:05 AM »
Fellow Message Board Members,

The domain name and hosting for our message board fees are due by March.  As of now, I cannot afford to pay the fees entirely, so I am asking for your help.  Below is a link to donate to help us cover the costs of renewing our domain name and hosting service.  The cost is approximately $170.00. Once we have the amount needed; I will disable the donation link because I am only wanting to collect what we need and nothing more.

Thank you all for your support and dedication for making this forum what it is today.

** When making a donation, enter the amount you would like to donate in the box, click update, then either login to PayPal, or click on the credit card link.

Donations are closed, we reached our goal.

UPDATE 1/13/2012:  I just want to thank everyone for the donations, we were able to get the money needed.  I was able to register the domain name for another 5 years, and the hosting for another 2 years.  I am so thankful for all the folks on this message board, I honestly didn't know what kind of reaction I would get by asking for help like this, but the reaction was 100% positive and within just a few days we had the money, so thank you all for your kind words and support!!

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / List of what to look for in new OWB
« on: January 10, 2012, 06:43:51 AM »
I was wondering if we should compile a list of what to look for in, things to consider, etc... in purchasing a new OWB.  We could create it and make it a sticky at the top of this forum, I think this would help new people to get a quick what to look for and things to consider.

Just reply to this post with your suggestions, comments, helpful items, then we can create a new topic with all if the items in it.

Site Suggestions / Moderating Help
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:38:19 AM »
I have been trying to keep up with all the moderating and admin of this message board by myself, as it continues to grow that is becoming harder to do.  If anyone would be interested in helping out please let me know and I can add you to the moderating list.  I would like it to be someone that is a regular to the message board, and is comfortable with learning how to remove and edit posts and users.  If you are interested please post that here.

Equipment / Got a new saw
« on: April 06, 2010, 02:30:03 PM »
I went over to help an older gentleman with his computer and we got to talking about saws and I told him I was saving up to buy me a new saw this summer and he asked about helping him cut up some trees, so I told him I would be more than glad to come over on a saturday morning and give him a hand.  He takes me out to his garage and hands me a practically brand new Husqvarna 49 chain saw and tells me that I can have it, if I come and help him out.  I cut with it the other day and it is great , I have been mostly using a walmart poulan saw that does alright but doesn't have the muscle this thing has.

Site Suggestions / PLEASE READ - Update/Upgrade Info
« on: April 01, 2010, 01:08:35 PM »
All,

I think I have a plan now that will upgrade the forum, it will still be the same software just a newer version.  I should be able to upgrade overtop of this forum so that way we can keep all the users, post, topics, etc...  I will make a backup of everything just in case something goes wrong.

The biggest issue will be the picture/gallery site that we are using now will go away, I have found a much better integrated gallery that will work much better and less confusing.  The problem with that is that all the pictures currently in the gallery will be deleted, if you have something in there that you want/need please get it now.

I plan on doing the upgrade Monday April 5th early in the morning.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks,
PhinPhan

WoodMaster / Changing Temps
« on: September 30, 2009, 06:49:00 AM »
pdboilermaker mentioned in another post about changing the temps from the default of 160/170 to 130/140.  How hard is this to adjust on the WM 4400?  This time of year we don't need really hot heat it would be nice to cut it back a little.  When I got mine from the dealer he said never touch it because it is really hard to change and easy to mess up.
