eZe-flex Silver Pex
« on: July 21, 2011, 10:20:52 AM »

Has anyone used this underground pex setup and have comments.  It is currently $7.80 per foot and is made in Muskegon Michigan.  Anyone have any comments on how well it might work?

Here is the website:

This stuff is better especially if your in a cold climate. More expensive, but worth the investment.

Is the stuff you are talking about the 3 layer or the solid black foam?

$7.80 per foot seems way too high. Triple wrap is usually around $5-$6 per foot. I don't even get that much for 5 wrap.
They have their spiel about why their foam is better but every company says what they use is better. Unless the layers are 1/2" thick I would not say it is a good deal. Most brands are 1/4" or less.
If they happen to be local to you and you don't need much then it might not be bad as shipping would add a lot per foot on a short piece.

Hello All. This is Jeff  Zack from Z Supply. Thank you for taking the time to discuss our eZe Flex. I hope you don’t mind if I make a brief reply here…

The $7.80 on the web site was an error. That should have been for eZe Flex with Pex-al-pex only. For potable water pex we have always been at an MSRP of $6.25.  I saw, with great embarrassment, the error on the web site and hope that it happened during a recent update I had done. Thank you to this group for prompting me to check it.

In brief, our SilverfoamTM is better than standard PE foam and it is proprietary, we use pex made in the USA by Watts, the outer casing is also manufactured specifically for us and exceeds ASTM F405 specifications.

We have worked hard to develop a quality product and deliver it at a reasonable price. If any of you would like a sample just PM me or use any of the links on the web site. Better yet call, once again, the number is on the site. (without error I hope..)

This is my first post here. I had not known about this board until it showed up on our sitetracker. It looks like a great resource and once again thank you for taking the time to examine and discuss our product.

Best Regards,

Jeff Zack

I just paid $4.30 a ft for 4 wrap. If it wouldn't upset anyone, I will post where I purchased it at. If not, PM me.

All of the 4 wrap pipe I have seen has had thinner insulation and the 4 layers were almost exactly the same thickness as decent triple wrap. Unless you know the foam thickness the number of layers isn't a good way to compare different pipes.
Another thing you want to make sure of when buying is that the outer shell in not made of recycled plastic. If it isn't all new plastic it will crack after a couple years and let water in.
Also, make sure the supplier doesn't store it outside. Sunlight breaks down plastic.

95% of the time thats the line i use.

the best i've ever seen is made by Logstor.

it comes in 567' Rolls and is $14.50/ft

Pricey, but nothing else really compares to it.
