Another water treatment question

I have a Hardy (stainless steel) and have well water, should I use some kind of water treatment?

What kind of stainless? 409, 304, etc. If you don't know, does a magnet stick to it?

 Hardy uses a 304 stainless and I believe there is no water treatment necessary.

I think the pump is brass (taco) but the pipe going to it is iron.

I forgot to ask, is it an open or pressurized system? If open and you have any iron fittings then it probably isn't a bad idea to add some treatment but if pressurized it shouldn't be needed if you used o2 barrier pex.

If your taco pump is a brownish color then it is bronze. If green I would scratch the paint and see if it is iron or bronze. (or if it has the model number on it that would tell for sure. (I believe the bronze pump model numbers end in B)

i'm not the sharpest tac in the box but my thinking on it is if you have any iron in your system you will contaminate your stainless. regardless of what type of stainless steel it is. so you are defeating the purpose of stainless steel. so i would treat the water. but thats just my thought on it.
