Side Arm Sizing for DHW

Can you guys give me some ideas on sizing my side arm heater.
i will be making it myself as i have some stainless lying around the shop
i have a piece of 2.5 ID stainless i will be using for the outer jacket
should i go .75 with the water line or 1 inch.  And what length should i make the whole unit
i plan on running a circulating pump on the hot water tank set-up.

How much do you plan on spending on it? You can get a shell in tube type for a little over $100.
The ones with the single pipe through the center don't work very good. but if you are running a pump it should work ok. You will want the most surface area possible so 1" inside pipe and as long as possible. If you can find that twisted type copper pipe it will work better.
