welding heatmore
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:02:22 PM »

looking for a little advice?

my friend has got his self an 8 year old heatmore (not sure of the model) but is has a crack on three or four corners inside the door where the fire box meets the door. it apprears to be stainless but my magnet sticks to it so i am thinking 400 series? Should i approach this weld with rod made for stainless to mild steel or stainless to stainless. I am doing this as a favour but i only want to do it once.

thanks for any assistance

I'm no welder but I do know the Heatmor uses 409 stainless which does have some carbon content.
