Back draft on 250
« on: January 07, 2015, 04:33:07 AM »

Hey guys I went out to load the boiler this morning and just as I got outside I heard the blower shut off so I waited just a minute and then opened the door. I got chased by the fireball yet again  :bash: What do you do to avoid this fun event ? Do you walk away for a longer time period ? At least this time I new what it was when I saw it coming !!!!

Yes Larry, sit back, grab a coffee give it a five minutes or so after it shuts down, always use caution when opening the door if the blower is off!!!!!!!!!!!

You could also play with the temps on your Johnson control to make the fan come on.  Then switch 'em back when you're done with business at the front of the boiler.

Just crack the door enough to let air enter, wait a minute for it to either get the right fuel to air mixture and light off in the firebox or just clear the fuel out of the firebox. Either that or open the door and walk backwards using the door as your shielded protection following the swing of the door.
