General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Hedge?
« on: March 19, 2009, 09:16:12 AM »
Hey, just wondering if you can burn hedge and other woods that burn really hot.

Thats pretty much the same thing I've heard from everyone else. I would much rather buy fans than have to buy a whole new unit. I was reading some posts about Hawkens and one guy didnt have much luck at all with the furnace or the warranty. I think I will just stick with the Woodmaster.

yeah thats what i was hoping for. Now im really trying to figure out which furnace to buy. I was planning on the woodmaster 4400 but my heating and air guy is trying to talk me into the Hawken. I dont know what to do. He just said the warranty is better and the hawkens use stainless. I am still kind of leaning towards the woodmaster because from what i have read on here they are one of the best and it sounds like i wont have to use the warranty anyway.  Does anyone have any input that would help me out?

thanks guys. I was just wondering because a friend of mine is going to buy the woodmaster 5500 and im getting the 4400 we just wanted to see if we went in there and bought them both at the same time if they would give us a deal. I should be getting my furnace soon ill let you guys know how the install goes and put some pics on here. Thanks.

Does anyone know what kind of profit the OWB dealers make on a unit? I was also wondering if they will work out deals or is the price tag on the furnace what you pay?

846
Yeah thats what I was thinking. I was also wondering why someone would get rid of it only two years after they bought it. Thanks again!

Thanks guys. Its something that I'll keep in mind but doesnt sound like anything I will need soon. Thanks for the input!

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / should i stay away from used?
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:49:07 AM »
I am going to buy a woodmaster 4400 within a month or two and came across a used one in a local classified. It is two years old and seems to be in good condition except the water level indicator light doesnt work.  He said he would take $4,000 for it. I dont know how well the guy took care of it or anything. I am trying to decide if i should just spend the extra $1,700 and get a brand new one or get the used one that could or could not have something wrong with it. Any suggestions?

Is there a big advantage to having a storage tank in the system? its not something I would do right now but maybe down the road if its really worth it.

Do you remember how far apart you put the lines? I was thinking maybe about every foot. I am also planning on putting heated floors in my garage when i put it up. Do you think i will need another pump to run the garage and driveway? i wont do the whole driveway so maybe 30ft of it. And my garage will be 30x40. Any suggestions?

Yea i will probably just go with pvc it sounds like the best idea. Has anyone ever done heated floors or driveways? I was thinking of doing that in the future after i buy the OWB.

Im not sure about what kind of minerals and things like that are in my water. The only thing I have is a UV light but it wouldnt take that out I just had a test dont but dont remember what I did with the results the only thing I was worried about at the time was the bacteria and I probably threw away the results.... Maybe ill just go with the home test...
