Plumbing / Re: Adding radiant floor heating
« on: October 27, 2010, 02:05:39 PM »
Thanks all for your help and input.  After looking over at Sketch's design, I modified his for my layout.

I am not hooked up into my hot water heater. Just into the  heat exchanger for forced air.

I'm hoping I am on the right track with this....Its been a bit frustrating at times.... :bash:

Thanks again, Mike

Plumbing / Adding radiant floor heating

Hello everyone,

I have a few questions and was hoping someone could help. I am no plumber or HVAC guy, but decided after 3 years to add 1 additional zone of radiant heat for under my kitchen.

I currently have a heatmor 100 running a water-air heat exchanger. Simply, 1" in, through heat exchanger, through pump (my pump in on return line, not sure if thats actually correct) and back out to furnace. It has been working great for 3 years, I have already run 300' of 1/2" through floor joists with heat transfer plates. I would like to simply add this 1 loop into my existing 1" lines. I am not quite sure how to get there. I am assuming I will have an additional pump on this 1/2" line. Should I tee into the 1" supply and return? Where is the correct place to add the new pump? I would like to add a thermostat to this new zone.

Again, I have everything run, just not sure how to attached all this. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Mike

Heatmor / burning coal
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:12:45 AM »
Just wanted to know if any Heatmor owner is currently burning coal.  I started to burn coal this past weekend and it seems to work out fine. I am new to the whole coal burning and have a few questions about using the shaker grates.

Steve, Thanks for the advice. After a good weekend of burning, I do have a nice bed of coals.  I think some of the wood I was trying to burn at first was kind of wet. Thanks again for your reply. Mike

Heatmor / New Heatmor Owner

Hello all.  I am a new Heatmor 100 CSS owner. Just a few questions for anyone that can help. I had a bit of a hard time keeping the fire from burning out. It seems like the blower wouldn't kick on enough to keep the fire burning. I since turned up the thermostat in the house to keep the blower going. Seems better know. I also noticed that the restrictor plug is not installed. I was reading and it said when burning wood, have the restrictor placed in the restrictor tube. Will this create a problem if this wasn't in? I have not put it in the tube yet as I just found this out.  Also, my plan was to start burning coal soon. I live in Eastern Pa, and anthracite coal is readily available. I have the shaker grate option installed. Is there anything special I should know before I start with coal. Thanks for any input. Mike
