I am looking for ideas to make a wood tote for the 3 point on the back of my tractor (case 35B). I'm thinking this would give me more wood hauling capability as well as balance out my loader full of wood. Anyone else looking at this or already gone down this path?
thanks guys

I have some take off forks from a local rental company that would make palletizing your wood pretty easy!

I'm in the middle of doing just that , I bought clamp on forks for my front loader and then found pallets for 1.00 apiece, put 2 side by side, couple 2x4s to put them together and some old 4x4 for bottom to keep it up off the ground , with a good load on it even with a box scraper or a bushhog on back the front is top heavy, but its great for moving wood after splitting , only pick it up once, deliver the whole pallet right in front of the stove and leave it there . I have 3 of these for the front now i move in and out
I found a set of hay spears for the 3 pt hitch that have 2 level forks almost like a carry all for the 3 pt hitch , I'm going to do the same thing there and see if that wont balance out the weight a bit
best thing is it will give me an excuse to finally purchase that hydraulic top link for the 3 pt hitch ::)

I have one for my tractor. I originally built it to move baby calves. Mine is 8 ft wide and 4 ft deep. You want to have the loader bucket full if you plan on filling the 3 pt tote.

here's a look at mine , seems to be a every time occurrence about files so I went Photobucket

I finally got around to building myself a 3 point wood hauler......with custom hitch for log splitter in tow. When trees see this rolling through the woods, they start sapping their pants!!!
I just signed up for photobucket to post so let me know if this does not work

looks good ( I like the tractor too) I have a JX75

Nice set up Cando, will have to put that in the brain bucket for when I finally get a tractor.

Nice setup guys I like that your carrying from front and back.. I also have a set of bolt on forks I put the biggest pallet I could find and built 3 sides it carries quit a bit of wood but I'm really digging the back piece nice..

I need to start stocking up on pallets and get some pallet forks for my tractor. I plan on having enough pallets of wood to stack 10 cords on (~20 pallets) with 3 sides made for them. Set two at the door of the boiler, and replace one with a full one as I empty it. I'll have the boiler and those pallets under cover so I won't have to putz with tarps, rain, snow, etc.
These are the forks I'm looking at:

Those are nice .. My kubota doesn't have the quick Att system so I could only put the bolt on type forks there is a company that makes that quick Att setup I could change it to that ..
-
I made sure my Kubota had the skid steer quick attach before I bought it last year. It was still an option and I wouldn't have the tractor without it.
-
Mine is 2004 it wasn't a stock option back then wish it was I would be able to do a lot more..

Cando...that's a great idea! Do you have any close up pics? I'd like to try and duplicate it for my tractor.
Anyone know where to buy bolt on forks for a loader?

Palletainers are great, especially if you get them at plant that is shutting down. Otherwise, a little pricey, unless you factor in the fact that you could toss cuts directly in and stack, only other handling is when wood is fed to boiler.

This is what I bought. I use my 8n to move metal baskets I collected from totes.
