Fire Wood / Stacking firewood logs (Video linked)
« on: January 18, 2015, 03:50:13 PM »
Took the time to clean up my wood pile today...stacking the newer logs and cleaning up.

Now I just need to do some more splitting of the older stuff and get those bins refilled.

The circulator is toast...propeller was messed up and deteriorated.

So replace with the same Taco pump? Or go with another/better brand?

I guess I can disconnect the bottom flange and check there for air.  I will try that tomorrow

HeatMaster / Water doesn't appear to be circulating into the house
« on: October 26, 2014, 06:54:24 PM »
I just tried to fire up the mf5000 for the season, but it appears I have a problem.

The wood stove reached temp of 180.  But inside the house the temp readings are only 145 on the one pipe, and 80 on the other.  I checked all the valves multiple times, and everything was open.

First picture shows the circulator that I think is not working properly. The pipe coming into the top is hot, but pipe coming out is cold...the feed to the furnace.  Would I be correct in thinking I should replace it?

Second picture is of the model number.  Should I do a direct replacement with another Taco? Or is there a better choice?

It is a 2006. I'm the second owner, that I know of.  It came with the house.   Hoping it is just needing a good welder.

HeatMaster / MF5000 leak...what to do?
« on: December 25, 2013, 01:44:46 PM »
I found out I have a leak, this is where I see it dripping from.  It disappeared for a day or so, but now is back...almost a constant drip

Suggestions?

I am going to be doing some digging from house to my 4-5 bay garage (due to septic issues). Currently my garage has a commercial grade hanging oil to forced air unit (186, 000 btu).  I would like to convert this to the wood stove for heat...but not sure if there is a way to convert the unit itself...or should I just get a new unit like this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/300590530187 ).   I dont know if I will do converting right away, but since I am digging a ditch, I figured I should least run the pipes.

For the piping I was looking at this http://www.ebay.com/itm/250748766468

Any thoughts and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Plumbing / Suggestions repleacing pump for radiant floor?
« on: November 24, 2013, 03:54:38 PM »
My Taco 007-f5 just went out for one of my zones (radiant floor for kitchen area).  With doing some looking on here, I see a lot of people arent thrilled with Taco. What make and model would you all suggest for replacement?

Seen Gundfos mentioned on here, but not sure which one would be a replacement for the taco I have.  Most likely I will order several of them...cause this system is littered with tacos.

attatch two wires to the R+B terminals on the aquastat and run them down and interupt the B-1 wire

When you say interrupt B-1 wire, can you clarify that?  I understand what happening and how the aquastat makes it kick on...just not how to wire it into the b-1 connection.

probably having a brain fart moment

but it is not automatic and can be made automatic with the addition of another in line aquastat as I keep mentioning, the benefit of doing this is that if you ever have to leave in an emergency or just want to be gone for a few days the oil boiler will kick back on and maintain the system at it's normal operating temp automatically when the wood boiler runs out of fuel.

Can you post a pic of this setup/connection?

Oil boiler pics

One house return on bottom left side. Another house return on bottom left rear.  OWB return on bottom right rear

One supply going out of boiler with T from OWB

Both OWB lines have manual valves

PS- He has oil boiler's thermostat connected by a phone jack. I was told to unplug that when running OWB to prevent boiler from kicking on
