:o well last Sunday was the day to fire my boiler as the weather was going to chit soon! I  just got the slab heat all plumbed in  and was to start on Saturday the 24th but it was taking me a long time to wire the 24v system up , I got things going and got all the air out in no time , here's where I thought things went wrong... It ran 24/7 till  Tues eve.. Near 3 days to get it up to 60 with my laser temp sensor on the concrete surface! But by weds eve all was well . i started the heat with a slab temp of 28/31 degs...dont do that again !....am now heating a shop with a 1200sf footprint, and 12' to the top plate walls, AND my house in progress, with the same footprint but  28' to the top plate !  Only the slab is hooked up in the 2/1/2 stories hom  I have r 30 walls and r 75 in the roof   the slab on grade in the house  thermostat is/was set to 67 and the top floor  is 46 degs... ...Hot molecules are  keeping my house warm .....or if u are all redneck like me ...heat rises - thereby keeping my azz warm :)....all this with a outside temp around 17 to 22 and a lite wind  average of 6 mph over the last week ! , I'll add pics at some point , but winters here and I'm off and running ! I have warmboard on the next two floors up ...but I will have to get more done before I get them on line ...

trying to shut her down ..45deg above, all nite with a 25mph wind !!......I did the cardboard burn (2times), pulled my fire brick  and scraped ..the "line of black above the fire brick is gone the top 1/3 on both sides of center is a mirror like black ...it don't really come off I can scratch it but its only a hair thick near as I can tell  I left it hot all nite > using coal  ... so where do I go from here ?   do it all again/break out the weed burner?

Reminded me of this old song that = "caught me as a kid"/ never to return to the dark side ...eeeerrr I mean the lower 48/outside   :-*   here she is >>> I mushed from Port Barren through a blizzard of snow
Been out prospecting for two years or so
Pulled into Fairbanks the city was a boon
So I took a little stroll to the Red Dog Saloon
As I walked in the door the music was clear
The prettiest voice I had heard in two years
The song she was singin' made a man's blood run cold
When it's springtime in Alaska it's forty below
(When it's springtime in Alaska it's forty below)

It was Red Headed Lil who was singin' so sweet
I reached down and took the snowpacks off my feet
I reached for the gal who was singin' the tune
We did the Eskimo hop all around the saloon
Where the caribou crawl and the grizzly bear hug we did our dance on a Kodiak rug
The song she kept singing made a man's blood run cold
When it's springtime in Alaska it's forty below
 [ banjo ]
I was as innocent as I could be I didn't know Lil was big Ed's wife to be
He took out his knife and he gave it a throw
When it's springtime in Alaska I'll be six feet below
(When it's springtime in Alaska he'll be six feet below)

been zero for the high this week 12 to 18 below with a wind or 3-6mph to boot, so yesterday on my trip about town I got me 4 bags of art-coal, at 45lbs each for 7bucks (28) was going to use for my finial burns next month  for "stove clean out", got home at 530 last nite and decided (being as the wife had a 3'' bed of wood coals going)   I tossed in a whole bag !!  stove WAS on its way to heating back up - but the water temp fell 5deg with the "zero deg" bag of coal tossed in> bag and all .....= heat all nite for 12+ hours  I raked her around and I have a 2/3" bed of and roar ing coal this moring I threw in  a 12"x36" birch + a 6" one ...we will see what I have when we get home 14hrs from now...  WHAT i seen from this "test" is .....  1 long burn ....an a  VERY  very short recovery time from the fan on to fan off ...

29
1st time !!!!  ...yup caught it ( wife is at home)... temp has been 27 to 33 outside since I put the wood to her last nite   4 -36"  logs un- split   about the "calf on your leg in size" ....that lasted all nite/ since7pm tue..(and is turning to charcoal too btw)  and all the way to  today at noon where upon >>> the unit heater/dump fan, pops on !!!   = no mess to clean up , no coolant lost, no burnt up pump ...just plain Awesome!     O0
