2- 3 year wood, might not save you anything.
I'm thinking it wood burn up quicker.

Importantly, there isn't any point seasoning wood longer than it needs to be. Over-dried wood will have less energy as volatile esters in the wood evaporate. These waxy substances contain a great deal of heat energy, so it is a mistake to think that longer is necessarily better.


They say ya gotta let Oak dry right out,, maybe 2 years, I don't know.
I wood not let my wood sit for 3 years.y
6 months to a year is good to go..

I have to agree I don't like burning wood over a yr it seems to disappear fast 6-8 months for me some greener mixed in on top works ideal for me longer burn times..

I have mine set at 165-175 cut all my pieces smaller than usual and I do not load it up 4-5 pieces on nice bed of coals it goes all day with these temps and there always hot coals when I refill.. Maybe u need a place to dump some heat on mild days

Roger I use 2" foam boards when pouring concrete in crawl spaces and basements with radiant heat I'm sure it would help in your situation just seal around edges with spray foam cans..

Yup learned that the hard way 5 yrs ago I tore ligaments and tendens in my forearm couldn't pickup a thing.. Also pain in elbows ext no more I grab everything both hands have a wheel barrow next to wood pile load it and put it front of furnace.. Had to learn to work smart not be a hero lol
