Very happy with the 250
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:08:24 AM »

I have had the 250 up and running now for several weeks and I could not be happier.  The house has never been warmer and I am using less wood (by far) than I had anticipated.

My installer, Richard at Mainely Custom was great and I recommend him highly.  I worked direct with Brian at the factory in purchasing the unit and water lines and they were equally great to deal with.  Both were, and continue to be, easy to reach and more than happy to answer questions.

The unit itself is great but definitely has a learning curve.  So many variables with outside temp, wind, type of wood, and btu demand from the house that I am trying to measure/project; this is more of an art than a science  :D

It is amazing how fast the family & dogs get used to keeping the house at 72 during our first winter with the P&M 250.  Prior, when heating with propane, we kept it at 62.  Crazy!

So, the winter is almost over ? Supposed to be in the 70 and 80s here next week. How has everyone done this year on wood consumption? I myself have a cord and a half left. That brings me to just shy of five full cords for this heating season. Now too see how much i use this spring/ summer for DHW.

Our heat loads must be similar as that's about how much I've used. I shut mine down a few days ago, but I'm quite sure I'll be firing it up in a few weeks. Winter is not over yet!
