I have 6 hot water solar panels for sale, these are commercially built panels with all aluminum insulated boxes, all copper pipe, 1" headers and 1/2" riser tubes, with solar glass. The tag on them says Built by Energy Design Corp.  HP-150 Solar Energy Collector. They measure 36" wide and 96" high. I have some mounting brackets that go with them.  These would be great to heat domestic hot water, swimming pool ect. $150 each.  Panels are located in S.E. Michigan ( washtenaw county)  pm me if you have any questions or you can call (734) 368-7 zero 7 one.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Taylor Waterstove Door Issues
« on: October 28, 2011, 05:10:20 PM »
On a recent trip to North Carolina, the neighbor where we were staying had a owb out back so I went over to check it out. Turns out it is a Taylor Waterstove, the guy proceded to tell me how the stove was only 1 yr old and the steel plate on the inside of the door was warping around the air intake hole for the blower and allowing the refractory stone to chip away and fall out. You can stick your fingers up in the opening where the refractory stone has fallen out !

He says he has contacted Taylor about this and they say the door is not under warranty, and wished him luck!!  Has anyone else had any issues with these stoves, I think the model is T-450.  And is it common practice on owb's  to exclude the door from the warranty ????

General Discussion / propane prices
« on: May 19, 2011, 05:48:58 AM »
I see in another post on this site where guys are talking about $4-$5 dollar propane prices!!!  Are you guys serious ?   I had my tank filled last summer for around $2 a gallon here in s.e.michigan.  What are you guys paying for propane and where are you located ?
If these prices are what is headed our way my owb is going to pay for itself sooner than I thought it would !!

« on: October 24, 2010, 08:45:07 PM »
Well after looking for months at all the owb's out there, I have a new Natures Comfort GT-220 gassifier set and hooked up ready to go, now just need some cold weather.
I will be heating about 3000 square ft house (forced air) , dhw with sidearm and 32x48 shop (pole barn) with radiant floor heat.
When it cools of enough to get it fired up, I will  post some updates throughout the season.  I will try to attach a couple pics.

« on: September 08, 2010, 07:09:43 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has any experience using the new push fittings (aka sharkbite, gatorbite ect. ) on 1" pex lines from boiler.  I know they are a little pricey, but are they safe to use ?  and will I have to worry about them coming apart ?  Thanks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / antifreeze in owb?
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:34:50 PM »
just wondering if it is a good idea to incorporate some kind of antifreeze protection in my owb.  I like to get away and go snowmobiling for a few days and don't have someone to keep it going there could be a problem.  Is a glycol mix a good idea ?  I've also heard that dowfrost is another option,  anyone have any experience with this stuff ??

I have been looking at puchasing a OWB and have looked at several different brands, and like most first timers I cannot make up my mind which one is the best onefor me.  I have looked at several including the woodmaster, CB, shaver, natures comfort ect and one that I have not seen on this message board,  called  Portage and Main,  these look like really well built boilers with a heat exchanger built right in the top of them, they claim they burn much less wood than the normal OWB. they are built in Saskatchwan.  Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated  thanks
