Title: American Beech
Post by: R W Ohio on September 23, 2008, 04:22:36 PM

Just cut up 1 big American Beech that came down in last weeks wind storm.

Never burned any before, how does it burn and how long to season?

good wood..i believe between 24 and 26 million btu per dry cord..comparable to white oak and ash
as for seasoning i am only guessing...probably should not burn it untill next heating season....i prefer to let my hardwoods dry 2 years because i split very little wood and i think it takes longer to dry than split wood does
