Title: Serial number aging
Post by: Fredward on October 26, 2015, 08:03:27 PM
Does anybody know what year model 400dss Sn 3513 would have been built?
I think I got it in 2000 but it was used.

Here my 1994  200css was serial 4703 . does your 400 have round or square flu in it. Round is 90s square is after 1999. Search my posts. I think 400s had same issues as the 200.

The dealer tells me he checked and it's a 1994 serial number. But it has the rectangular flue. Just took it apart and am having the corners repaired. The welds in those little corner pieces cracked and were leaking. Everything else on the boiler seems fine so after the welding is done; I'm just going to put it back together and light a match.

Let me know if you want more info on your boiler . Tank was replace is all that going on . keep track of air leaks at split base in 1994 was mild steel they rust from condensation that leads to leaks.  air and water in bottom of tank because it makes hot spots stainless don't like hot spots they crack .

Yah we have a pretty good fix I think. My neighbor is a welder; he had some stainless laying around so we patched it up, pressure tested it and put it back together. Hopefully we'll get a few more years out of it.
