I don't think the thinner stainless will be a problem. In fact I worked for a company that contracted  to install commercial heat air and mechanical . And I remember building a parts cooler tank out of thinner same grade stainless and it has chilled water pumped through it and it had a machine that dunked exhaust manifolds straight out of molds in it to cool them off and it is under hot cold 24/7 for the past 12 years and I don't think they have had to anything to the tank for leaks or cracks so it hold up well under my opinion. All welds were tig welded I am not sure if heatmaster uses tig welding or not but they do look to be built nicely

I don't know a lot about  thermostat hook ups but I can tell you if you are jumping wires around while it has power to the system that the 24v transformer is very easy to blow and you said you didn't have 24v on system I would start there and check to see if transformer is bad

I had been looking into the owb's for a few years and I narrowed my choices down to cb5036 or heatmasterss mf 5000 I had 2 dealers fairly close to me the central boiler was actually closer but the dealer just had his stoves setup at another business you had to take a business card and call him to talk about boilers so I did no answer left message to get quote. And I drove to my heatmaster dealer which was about and 1 hr away he had  lots of stoves in stock got a price. And I pondered on it a few days waited on what kind of deal I could get on cb5036. I went back to dealer bought the mf 5000from him he didn't have the color I wanted but it wasn't a problem he ordered it for me he had exchangers pipe fittings all parts I needed for install and on top of that he delivered my furnace for free. Anyway a week after I ordered my furnace about 2 weeks to late I finally got a call from central boiler dealer. I don't know what was up with that but I have heard a few other people running into this kind of service from central boiler dealers. I think they make a great product but I chose heatmaster over central because of customer service the forced air and the grate system is very nice with ash pan! Any way I got mine fired up yesterday and I have a very comfy home. I don't think you will go wrong with either one just get it from a good dealer!

If you will be circulating water 24/7 in your owb it won't matter were you put the thermostat it would be fine and with the water moving all the time it will at a consistent tempature all the time won't be like warmer in one location than another you know. Nice looking build you have going on there

HeatMaster / Got owb going last night but fire goes out over night!
« on: October 08, 2012, 06:21:36 AM »
Hello I got a heatmaster mf 5000 and I just fired it up yesterday for the first time and this is my first owb and I need a little help it heats the house great and hot water! I notice before I went to bed the fire looked like it was almost out but I stoked it and it started up good again Anyway I woke up this morning to a nice warm house and I notice air was a little cooler comming out of vents so I went to check stove and temp read 130 I the thermostat I have it set at 165 with a 12 degree swing  anyway I open fire box and no fire just some smoke rolling out of box it looked like it wanted to pickup again but couldn't so any suggestions on what I need to do to get this thing running smoothly. The temp was only in low 40s last night didn't know if it was taking to long between burntimes or what thanks!

Got my owb going it is nice that my heat pump is not kicking in yeah! I am new to owb it's not too cold here but will be in mid to upper 30s for next couple of days I figured it would be good to try out before the cold really sets in you know. So far so good!

Thanks Scott that was what I was thinking. I got my owb fired up this evening it feels good not hearing. The heat pump kicking in and have a really warm house thought my home. I usually heat my home with a wood stove one my first floor it does good but I can tell this mf5000 is a whole lot nicer no smoke in home or carrying wood inside and cleaning a mess up. And I don't know how much wood my heatmaster will consume since this is my first day enjoying a owb but I can tell you it is now were near as smokey as my old wood stove that thing put out some smoke. I see some smoke out of my heatmaster mf 5000 at times but other times I was wondering if it was running at all just a little shimmer I guess it's how seasoned the wood is thanks for your help!

Fire Wood / Re: SAW DUST
« on: October 06, 2012, 10:39:34 AM »
I bet if you didn't want to use plastic bags you could use a tobacco baler. Could put cardboard on bottom fill with sawdust and small pieces put a piece of cardboard on top and compress it into a bale. I'd say that would last for a while. And on top of that if you grow corn or tobacco I'd say you could bale stalks and burn them. Just a thought for some more renewable free energy!

Fire Wood / Seasoned firewood
« on: October 06, 2012, 09:41:11 AM »
Hello everyone I have a few questions about seasoned fire wood! How long does it normally take to have good seasoned firewood from fresh cut down trees? Next question is I have access to old trees that have fallen down across the road or along side it is from the highway department  anyway most of the trees are pretty good size trees and they been setting for a 1yr or so in the weather I notice cutting the big trees like from 18" to 3' diameter there is mosture in them well I Split and stacked them up how long do you think before a person good burn them as good seasoned firewood? Thank you for all the info on this forum I am new to the owb's I got my new heatmaster mf 5000 rdy to go. I have burned a indoor wood stove for years and I know that good seasoned wood doesn't smoke as much and is more efficient and that is what I am trying to do thanks

What's wrong with rooftop chimneys the centralboiler is not through rooftop like heatmasters chimneys are but both go through water jackets just the central goes out back and. Heatmasters is though the roof just wanted to know why either are so much different from one from another Any thoughts on them.
