Ayuh,....    Right at the end of the video I posted, he's splittin' a good 3' round,....

I started out thinkin' of goin' with something like yer's,....

I've got a backhoe, not a skid-steer, 'n not havin' to run an aux. hyd.s is a big plus,...

If I did yer design, I'd push to the operator, rather than away, or crosswise,....

I'm thinkin' one like in the vid. I posted, with a straight knife, no cross-knife, for splittin' the 4', 5', 6' stuff I get,....

Block it down small enough to get to my northern hyd.s 37 ton splitter,....

Last winter, I stood abunch of rounds, 3', 4', 5' on edge with the backhoe, 'n manually rolled 'em to the splitter,....

No fun,...   I hate noodlin' 'em down to manageable chunks,...

I had a three point splitter that ran off the tractor hydraulics, then of course it’s replacement the skid steer splitter ran off the skid of course.

When you get a motor, I’ve been real impressed with the Honda GX series, not so much with the GC series.

I’ve been told the GC is Honda’s answer to the cheap China knockoffs. Our GX’s start on the first pull almost always, have one with a bad starter and it starts so well I haven’t bothered to replace it, the GC on my power washer starts hard even in the dead of summer, when it cools off but we still intend to use the power washer I keep it in a heated control room just so a person doesn’t wear themselves out getting it started.

Been driving around looking for any monster chunks yet?

A guy from town gave me the truck from a hard maple that he had taken down, biggest chunk almost measured 60” across, skid steer splitter made short work of it.

I just finished my build. I started years ago with the frame but stopped due to $$. I have a 5" piston with a 30 " reach. In order to move that large of a piston I have a 13 hp Lifan motor from the Home Depot. Just as cheap AS Harbor Freight bit with a 3 year warranty. I used a 22 gpm pump and the valve has all 3/4 ports. In order to move all that oil I have 3/4 hoses and a 1 1/4 suction hose. The tanks is around 12 gallons.  I will post some pics as soon as I figure out where I can down load pics, maybe I am too new to do this?
