Love controller
« on: March 23, 2016, 06:32:23 PM »

So, the latest thing to happen is my controller just went bad. I noticed it looked like my stove had been running a long time so I went out and checked and it was at 190 degrees. Had to unhook the electric to get it to shut off as the fan was running and damper was open even though it was 10 degrees past when it was supposed to shut off. Anyone else had this? Did you get another love or did you go with something else?

Do you have room to replace it with a Ranco controller? If so, I would do that.

I have had this same thing happen. I added a probe in one of my unused bulkhead fittings. It was a Honeywell switch, open on rising, that I have set to 195. If the water temp get too high due to a control failure, the temp switch will open and cut power to the damper solenoid. This doesn't protect against mechanical failure, though, ie: solenoid sticks in the "energized" position.
