Downdraft gasser????????????
« on: January 09, 2017, 05:36:36 AM »

Heatmor Downdraft gasser? I have to imagine they are trying to come up with one....there original DCSS series was very popular and was a great traditional unit (one of the better IMO). I think they could use alot of their original trademark designs to come up with a nice downdraft gassser.....I guess we shall wait and see!

One could assume so since the x model is not going to meet the standards moving forward since I believe they just squeaked by the current numbers.

X series model is terrible.....don't like it at all...seen it in person.  Super small firebox, huge water volume and the factor setpoint on aquastat are 140-180.....which doesn't even make sense.

The smaller fire box is because of the reduced wood consumption. The 140-180 must be a typo.

Last two years in a row the local Heatmor dealer has nothing but conventional boilers at the Blueberry festival, and far as I can tell, nothing but conventional's on display at his house.

Thought it was pretty cool at first, but have heard on a few other sites its a real stinker.

Anybody on this site have a X series?

Don't have one, but local dealer says and does same thing. Am told it needed to have a long burn cycle to pass EPA, needing to keep the cat hot, hence the 140-180 stat setting and the large water capacity. But was also told that anyone wanting to buy one should look at the manual on cat maintenance.

I have a 400 DCSS and love it....great conventional boiler...easy and reliable and also pretty efficient.

My local dealer also only has the conventional "coal burners" on hand....hoping to see them come out with a downdraft gasser in the near future.

Customer support has been great when needed....I got a nice gift box for xmas....sweatshirt, t-shirts, pens, hat and coffee mugs.
