Ibc heater
« on: June 29, 2019, 05:38:11 AM »

Anybody  got any ideas on how to make a heater to heat a ibc tank off your wood boiler. I am overwintering Tilapia in my garage for the winter. I could run the pex through the tank but the key would be to regulate the temp. Thanks in advance.

A simple Aqua Stat probe in the tank to control a circ and an adjustable tempering valve should do the trick for you.

If you immerse a coil of pex in the tank, start and stop the flow through the coil with an aquastat or temp controller, then is a tempering valve needed?

I don’t think I would want 180 degree water running through the pex, better to temper it down close to the desired tank temp and go slow I would think.
