Forced air furnace shutting down with coil installed
« on: December 07, 2013, 04:45:17 PM »

Hey all-
I'm in the process of installing my new boiler; just installed the coil in the plenum of my forced air furnace (Carrier Weathermaker 9200), but  now the furnace keeps shutting down, as it is sensing a restriction in the air flow. The LED light is blinking a code indicating there may be blocked vents, etc. Anyone experience this when installing their system? Any ideas on fixing this??
THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!!

i worried about that when i installed mine as well but it never gave me a problem...is your filter dirty at all? perhaps with a dirty filter and the coil it is enough to set it off?  if the coil is setting it off alone then i hope a guru comes along here and tell you how to adjust  the  alarm (i am sure there must be a way to  set the alarm for a higher  back pressure (or what ever it measures)

Here is the Start up Manual  http://legalectric.org/f/2011/03/carrier-9200-weathermaker-uhe-om58-67.pdf

May be able to try adjusting the pressure switch which is number 16 on page 3

i know nothing of the operation of your stove and would not venture into telling you how to change any factory settings. i would call your  furnace installer and ask them. (they may give you a freebe over the phone)

Sounds to me like the blower motor may be overheating, is the rad below the blower motor, have you done an amp draw test on the motor, normal amp draw will be posted on the nomenclature plate of the blower, if the actual amp draw is larger than what is posted the motor will shut down

What size heat exchanger did you use? Was it the same size as the plenum?

The coil is the same size as the plenum. The blower motor comes on, but the furnace will not ignite. I removed the coil, shut it all down/restarted it, and now it works fine. Anxious to get my boiler going... it's 20 below zero up here in MN again tonight!!
