Heatmaster G200S: After scrapping as much ash and creosote as possible and then burning a firebox full of cardboard would it be ok to flush the firebox and ash box with water? After it cooled of course. If yes, what would you suggest I remove? Firebricks? Nozzle?

Absolutely not, wood ash and water make a weak acid. For the purists out there, wood ash is one of the ingredients of lye soap. Theres zero need to clean it to that extend anyways. Scrape all the ash out you can, then I take a shop vac with a drywall filter in it and vacuum all I can out, lastly I hit it with a leaf blower so no ash is left. Far as the creosote I only remove the bubbly looking stuff, the slick looking stuff I leave.

Agree, I wouldn't use water. Just scrape or vacuum it out and cap the chimney over the summer. Actually I would save ash to put in the firebox for startup in the fall, it runs best with several inches.

I've been doing this for a couple years now. I try to leave a half dozen or so partially burned logs and some ash and coals at shut down time in the spring. I keep them in a small garbage can with a tight lid. I use these to start my fire in the fall. With the old charred logs and small remaining coal bed its usually up and gassing within a few minutes. Gets the boiler up to temp in no time.
