Central Boiler / Re: central boiler outdoor furnace getting too hot
« on: October 07, 2010, 11:42:58 AM »
I had about the same problem the other morning, I went out and the temp was at 180. set point was set at 165. The damper was stuck up.  Had to replace the seleniod. May check that and/or the damper door to see how it fits when closed, may be bent letting air in???

I really hate to spend that kind of money on something a probably will not use. Everything else is electric. I have had 15 % in the tank since fall of 08.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Letter from propane company
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:54:54 AM »
Fired our boiler up fall of "09" and have not bought propane since fall of "08". I have been wondering when they would send us a letter telling us to either buy some propane or were coming to pick it up. Propane company said we could keep the tank if we bought a 100gals. HAHA. I think I am just going to let them come pick it up and some day just by my own 100gal tank for a back up. What a great feeling it is not to worry about buying gas from someone else. Has anyone else had this issue in the past??

Fire Wood / Still have a fire burning??
« on: April 02, 2010, 10:28:08 AM »
Last night I let the fire go out! It was 74 in the house and really did not need the heat on. May need to fire up a couple more time in the future if the wife get cold!!!  Was wondering if you guys try to keep the fire going up to temp or just restart the fire if you have a cold night or two??

General Discussion / Re: woodstoves...not even close

Growning up we had a woodstove in the house and we still had to run the furnace half the time. The OWB is the way to go if you don't mind the up front cost. Every room close to the same temp. and all the mess outside. Plus the ability to heat mutiple building. Nothing better than after you just fill your boiler & stand there watching the smoke roll out of the stack with stars in the back ground.  Doesn't get any better than that!!!!!

Stick 2
I agree with R W ohio
I would at least try using it for a couple of years. You never know it might last another 5 to10yrs. I tried looking for a used Central Boiler before buying mine but the couple I did find wanted to much.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Looking to buy OWB
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:59:44 AM »
I've been heating with a CB for the past two years. Have not had to by propane since. If you don't mind spending some time in the woods it a great way to save some money. Not to mention keeps the house at a steady 74 degrees. I looked at several diffrent types of stoves before buying a CB. I went with a CB becasue the dealer is only 15 minutes up the road.

Fire Wood / TYPE of CHAIN SAWS USED
« on: December 17, 2009, 11:57:14 AM »
Was just wondering what type of saws do you guys use? The 031AV I use has a 18" bar and was given to me by my dad two years ago when I bought my OWB. I would like to get a new Farm Boss next year and keep the 031AV as a back up!
