I updated mine. Boy is it nice to see some melting. This area got hit with a lot of coastal snow storms this season. Not quite as bad as NY state getting 5' in a couple of days, but we saw about that much over a 2-1/2 week period. Eastport, which is only about 35 miles from me got over 8' in that time. I only plow myself, my neighbor and my parents and I was tired of it. Maybe it was all the shoveling in between I was tired from. Regardless, I'm happy to see winter coming to an end. I'd like to see a good spring and summer. We've earned it.
-
Ayuh,.... I'm sittin' here just outside Watertown, Ny,.... just North outa the damn Snow-belt,... ;)
Got a couple places on the Chaumont River, right where it hits Chaumont Bay,....

Yah, I moderate another site as well and we added location to the registration form, left it as optional though. Most of the long time members before answering a question on the other site will post something along the lines of really can't answer that until we know where you are, better yet add it to your signature or avatar.

Right on Martin !
This sight is climate sensitive, for sure.
Can you pin this,, or start one, to pin??

First site I ever had admin/moderator features on had a really nice feature, you could set up scrolling message across the top of the screen along the lines of "membership requirements have changed. please read" or whatever the occasion warranted then it would keep scrolling until the member clicked on it and then it took them to the designated thread.

Nice try, but both of you have missed the real purpose of this thread. You should put that information in your signature so it appears on every post. Readers shouldn't have to look back to this post to find out where you live.

You’ve found a veritable cornucopia of information here, not to mention some of the most helpful members you’ll find on the internerd.
-
Right you are Mlappin! I've been lurking and absorbing information for years before I done my Install. It was this site and members input that helped me do the install myself. I hope after I get some years under my belt I can pay it forward and help some other new coming rookies! Subscribed life long member.

Ah, almost getting to the tropical part of the country ;)
I’m in Northern Indiana a stones throw from the Michigan border, on the farm forums I’ll put down, The Arctic part of Indiana and refer to southern Indiana as the tropical part of the state. ;)

Never really noticed it, air has cleaned up considerably though, we now have to pay for sulfur to be added to the fertilizer where before it used to be free from the rain.

As a tadpole 60 years ago I spent all summer about 10 miles north of Parry Sound so when it came time to retire I wanted a spot with less rock...LOL
Picked up a used P&M last fall for our tenants house across the lawn. So impressed that I plan to tie it into our Geothermal system next spring! The lack of smoke, warmth of the house and domestic water, comunications with P&M are all amazing for a DIY effort.
When we lived over there we kept the house about 18-19C and heated mostly with a free standing wood stove. The tenants keep it at 24C, even in the basement and are burning about the same wood.....

Yep lots a rock close to the bay
I'm 20 miles east of Parry Sound [McKellar] in the rocks, woods and swamp.
Where are you living now?

Cottage was on Limestone Lake, property that my Grandmother bought before the war.....Sister still has the place and some of the land.
We are just outside of Bancroft....
-
We been trying to sneek on to Limestone for Largies,, for two summers.
Theres no access.
Love to get on there and lower it a couple inches!!!!!!!!!!
Got this one near there. 7+

I think the cottager behind was feeding him
-
Good one ..how come u can't get to the lake/fishing hole?
-
During the forties my Grandmother ran Limestone Lake Lodge... bunch of single or double room cabins, no hydro or plumbing then...Her main customers were Americans who came for the bass fishing.
They tell me now that there are some pike in the lake as well.
Haven't seen the place in 30 years, not sure if I want to spoil memories. If you can find a way in, McEwen Lake was our go to lake for walleye. Always fished at dusk with worms, one night we caught our limit, three of us in an 8 ft boat. Back then the limit was 15 pickeral EACH! I was about 10 yrs old. Seldom fish walleye now, been spoiled...
-
Spoiled by what ...good fishing when u were 10 ...? ☺
-
Good one ..how come u can't get to the lake/fishing hole?
Private property around the whole lake.
It's small and the cottagers don't want anyone horning in on there fish....greed++
We got lots of other holes anyway.
We did close to 400 largies last summer in the area,, so no big loss.
We fished a lot, 40 hours a week .
We release most of them.
Ice fishin was cvrap this winter though

Weather Canada promises that we will loose some snow tomorrow, my driveway is partially down to dirt already.
Bancroft seems to be just north of the snow line this year. My son came for a visit and dug out his snowmobile last week...

That part of Central MN where there's no cell service or gas stations for 20 miles in any direction but 4 bars within walking distance. Drive to the Minneapolis 'hood everyday for work but hate people bad enough that the 4 hour daily commute doesn't bother me anymore. Like my solitude out here

Haha, sounds like my small town when bars outnumbered churches.
-
That post ..made me feel at hom.......a 4 way intersection in my old neck of the woods in the 70's was a bar a church some county chit and a house ....then house/farm ...till the next town....but home is here after 35 years !_

Hey Everyone..
New to the forums. Living the life near Novar Ontario Canada.

Just had to move from the low lands and now I'm in the highlands ;) Almost at the foot of the tallest mountain in VA Mt Rogers.
This will be our first winter up here if I make it LOL! ;) Certainly has been a ton of rain this summer and the temperatures have already been into the lower 20's . Almost through with getting the OWB in and running and I'm thinking this winter will be a test for it and myself both!
-
Beautiful country up there. Been up on Whitetop when the frost is thick on the trees. Like frozen clouds, Awesome.
-
It definitely is! My first experience with freezing fog was on Holston Mtn down in Tn. It was absolutely beautiful but a little slick that night on the way down ;D
Didn't have much color to the leaves up here this year though. I think it was just too wet!
