Problems with Firestar on a E1450
« on: October 25, 2015, 09:44:17 PM »

From a new member since we haven’t resolved the posting issue yet.

When I powered my CB EC 1450 for the season two weeks ago the Firestar II booted normally but displayed the following:
HI then 1.43 ( this continues to repeat ) All three stage led were alternately flashing on and off

The fan will not start, however, when I put the Firestar into the diagnostic mode (menu item #7) the fan started and ran as well as each solenoid energized and the diagnostic completed.

I thought it may have been one of the two hi temp alarms and replaced the water sensor first, then the reaction chamber temp sensor but still have the same issue. I've contacted my dealer and CB Both were helpful but neither were technical enough to help.

Has anyone seen this issue and if so what is the resolution?

Any idea's would be much appreciated..

Part Two

Replaced the Firestar controller and boiler booted normally, stoked a fire and when I close the bypass door the audible alarm turns off but the display still shows A-3. The display alternates between A-3 and water temperature with the bypass door closed, beeper off.

The boiler does modulate through all three stages, if I press the up/down arrow keys the reaction temp reads but the display still alternates between A-3 and water temp.

The other issue is when I open the bypass door the blower fan does not start.

I"ve checked the bypass door switch and all wiring which appear to be working correctly.

Any ideas as to what else to check?

The issue has been resolved, the original controller and the replacement were the cause. A third controller rectified the issue.

Update, discovered that the temperature sensors are not reading accurately... Stay tuned
