Title: WoodMasters New Furnace
Post by: MNLady on July 05, 2016, 01:19:07 PM
Has anyone seen or heard about WoodMasters new Wood burning Furnace? Called the CleanFire. Looks pretty awesome! It is a closed pressurized system with a dry fire chamber and ceramic free. They say there is no ash corrosion, no water corrosion and really easy to clean. What does everyone think about it?

Well…

Instead of a ceramic as you call it it uses a catalyst.

Every wood burner we’ve ever owned with a dry firebox eventually fails, mild steel when exposed to higher temp fires eventually warps or cracks. But to be fair all the dry fireboxes we’ve had in the past relied on air to cool em, get a bad spot with not enough airflow and you’ll have problems.

Have two right now I can’t give away. But again to be perfectly honest one is in the basement and it was a bear to get down and I was young then, told several if you can get it out, I’ll weld the cracks shut and load it on your pickup, no takers yet. Have a feeling the gas axe might be used to make it more manageable.

Lastly, part of the appeal of most OWB’s are that they are an open system which is generally much safer.
