over last summer i did not split some of my bigger chunks, and thought over this winter i could throw them in, one at a time over hot coals and it would burn just like splits, but not so good. the last night i threw a big chunk in and went to bed i got to get up at 3 in the morning to remove the chunk that did not burn, and spend an hour to restart some small split pieces. Because since having our woodmaster, god for bid if the furnace kicks on with propane, the old lady has a fit. So from my experience I will be splitting all wood from now on. good luck.

i live north of lansing, about 15 miles, near st. johns. last winter was my first full winter, and i went throught 6 rows about chest high, each row was about 30 foot long.

i live in the same area, and this year i have set my stove to come on at 150, off at 160, it doesn't seem to make a diffrence to me, i may bump it up when it gets real cold out, but i did disconnect my hotwater heater, due to the excessive wood use when wife does laundry. With dhw unhooked, i may be able to make it through a winter with out fetching any more wood.

very nice, have you ever had your owb loose enough heat to trigger you aquastat to run you furnace on propane. my install is simular, and i am curious if they really work. thank you

Thanks for the info i guess that i found out for my self today how hot the water gets coming out of the hot water tank. we got back from the casino this am, and i had waited long enough, i started to fill stove/system with water, I never thought that it would fill up, i think it took 1/2 hour, then i put some wood in the stove, and lit it, then turned on the blower/dampner, and holy cow we were building fire/water temp. once the water puked out of the vent i fired up the pump, by now the stove was running like a locomotive, i went inside to eat lunch, waiting for the furnace to stop sucking propane, getting inpatient, i shut off the propane to furnace, and waiting forever with my hands on the pipes in the basement, nothing happened, i went to the bathroom, and went back down stairs and holy cow, the pipes grew, and they were hot, and now i can keep my house at a decent temp, and not buy propane, i can't wait to see the propane guys face, when he comes over. any ways like they say i should of bought on years ago. i also do not regret installing a anti scalding valve, even though i its cheap insurance with little kids.

i installed a anti scald valve, so when i do get it up and running i should not have anything to worry about.

my dealer told me that it is normal to have smoke coming out of the dampner hole, and after the door seals it should stop smoking unless the door is out of adjustment.

it looks great, i have been trying to duplicate the same thing for the past 2 weekends 
, do you think that the dhw gets too hot, where i would have have worry about children playing in the sink, and getting burn't?
