I know a guy that was running one and got his pants hung on it and ended up having to get his leg cut off from the knee down.

I am going to get one as soon as I find the right size hydraulic motor. I am going to try mounting it on the front of my Kubota RTV. Even if it doesn't work real well it will still be worth it because I bust up the larger pieces of wood instead of having to lift them.
If it doesn't work out on the RTV then I will re-do it for the skid steer.
As long as I am sitting on the seat holding a lever it should be a lot safer than a regular type splitter.

I plan on getting a wheel motor and a cone that bolts to a wheel hub. Then all I need to do is build a small frame that connects to the plow mounts.

How about this one....   http://www.thestickler.com/articlee333.html?id=5833

Don't even know what to think/say about it, other than you can drive your splitter to/from the woods, then out to dinner and a movie later in the evening!

Seen a utube video with that type of spitter on a bobcat..Didnt seem very efficient to me..Funny seeing it hooked up to a truck..I think I'll stick the splitter I got..Way cheaper to run lol

I wouldn't have anything to do with one that required being by it while it is running.

The one on the truck, if it got a hold of you you couldn't stop it before it hurt you. Looks to dangerous. The other one looks like it would splinter the wood to bad.

not to worried about the danger issue..i will be sitting in machine,RSI i plan on useing a 32 to 1 ratio gear box with hydraulic motor driving that. only need to split the real big stuff so speed isn't a factor. does any one own one? makes sense to by one with replaceable tip but not sure if one is better then the other.

What speed is the hydraulic motor you will be using? You need at least a couple hundred RPM. This one appears to be about 60 RPM and nearly worthless. Stickler Log Splitter on Dingo
Apparently the yellow stickler ones are hollow. They are cheaper which was making be lean that way and they are made to bolt on a wheel hub which would make it a perfect combination with a wheel motor.

Also, Stickler was the only company that emailed me back when I asked about what RPM and power was needed. They did say that if you run it too fast it will get hot and cause the welds to fail. That sounds kind of odd. Can't get that hot I wouldn't think.

I just found the email from Stickler.

The Stickler requires about 150-200 RPM to be effective

I got a cone splitter for sale.  It is a Bark Buster.  All it needs is a pto shaft.  I decided to persue a hydraulic 4 way log splitter with a log lift.
