Water gauge

This the first season i have had this issue but since
Changing the water out this fall the gauge is all over the place
for no reason. This morning it’s -2 and it’s shot
Clear up

Do you have a sidearm? If so, I would try to figure out if it is leaking internally. If that isn't the problem, if you have a fill valve, make sure that isn't leaking water through.

If it isn't leaking domestic water into the boiler then I would look at the aquastat. If it isn't consistent at all then it could be the cause.

no sidearm. The gauge will soon be down all on its own, by time I go home for lunch i bet it will be back to normal

Do you still have the original aqaustat or something different?

Where does the float level usually sit?

Usually level with top like book say. Yes original stat

Do you have any temp gauges other than the one in the back of the stove? Aquastat could be sticking and running water temp higher than normal.

If that isn't it then I would go back to looking for a source for water getting in.

My NCB-175 will do this if it over-fires. I don't think you have any more water in the boiler, it's just running longer in this colder weather, making the water temp ioncrease. Next time it's overly high check your water temp. I bet you're a few degrees higher than normal. Likely just normal water expansion as the water temp increases.
