moving my Ridgewood stove
« on: July 04, 2015, 05:57:10 AM »

I have to move my stove so I can put a slab under it but am not sure of the best way to do it.
Pick it up with a chain or use forks?

Either way but be sure to empty the water first!

I believe ridgewood recommends picking their furnaces up using forks and the firebox opening.

When they loaded mine into the truck, they ran the forks through the front door and lifted on the chimney stack inside the fire box. The stove tilted back slightly but was plenty stable. They also said you could run a chain down the chimney stack and hook it to a crossbar across the stack opening inside the firebox. And definately don't forget to drain it......
