pocket pex crimpers.....
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:51:53 PM »

so has anyone used these, I have 24 1" crimps to make. For 30 bucks are they worth it or for $80 I can get a decent kit with 1/2-1" at a local lumer yard. I have a friend letting me use some nice 3/4" crimpers. Unless these leak I will never use them again I dont think?

I prefer cinch clamps myself. The same tool is used for 3/8" up to 1"
If you want to pay shipping I can send you a loaner.

Get the bigger tool, I have a pocket one I used for my 1" line, works, but takes a long time, and leave a big pinch in the rings, no leaks though.I used a big C- clamp to speed up before finishing with vise grips. You won't regret the larger crimper.

Think I bought the $100 model at Lowes with adjustable heads it does 4 sizes including the 3/4 and 1" I needed.

Worked good but sometimes you have to plan ahead how you are getting the tight spaces done.

I'm returning the copper crimp rings I have tomorrow for the ss cinch clamps and getting the tool for them. They  look much easier too use and from some searching they work just as good as the crimps unlike what I had been told. Thanks for the offer rsi and for getting me looking into the cinch clamps.

I bought the kit with multiple size crimper jaws.  You never know when you may need them again.  At least that was my justification when my wife saw the receipt.

With the stainless cinch clamps 1 tool does 3/8 - 1" with no changing of the jaws and cost $57 and will work in tight spots pretty easy.
