How close to the house can you put one?
« on: February 10, 2010, 08:15:26 PM »

I'm trying to decide on a location for an OWB.  I don't want to spend too much on underground piping if I don't have to, especially since I want to heat my detached garage.  I was thinking of putting the furnace about 10' off of the back of the house if that isn't a problem.  Any thoughts?

Just make sure the door of the boiler is pointed away from the house and you use a spark arrestor cap on the chimney.   You may also want to check with the building codes.

Friend of mine did that and the whole back of his shed and some of the roof is discolored if that would bother you.

get the mess away from your house and you will be happier a little bit extra on underground pipe is all its going to cost you and you will save that in isurance, house paint and stack material, not counting your wife cutting you off and making life hell
