Well I wouldnt want you to fall over dead so I shall just keep on with my story. It's all I know to say about heat masters. Now WoodMaster or Heatmor..different story but then you would be dead so I will keep it to myself. You should believe my story cuz it is 100% true and I have documented court records to prove it.

I had the mf5000. I have no idea what caused the fire but I do know it was lucky I was home at the time or it could have been disasterous. We had no snow at the time and lots of dry grass, woods. 3/29/10. I do know that the thing had gobs of creosote dripping out of the ash pan area and I was burning bone dry jack pine firewood. The dork from the company later told me the units do not burn jack pine. I have witness' to this. Unreal. Worst company I have ever dealt with.

Steve,
Scott got it about right,my pos heatmaster actually went out on 66 different occasions that i documented and then yes it caught on fire rendering it totally inoperable. It did not burn to the ground although that would have been fine with me. I have long said that I felt the unit was a lemon and would have gladly accepted a replacement and tried it again but it was the local dealer and the mfgr that my real beef was and is with. The local guy was an absolute dolt as far as the installation and these clowns in Canada where this pile of junk was made were total jackasses as well. Bottom line I had to take the local clod to small claims court where I was awarded a judgement and then he promptly filed bankruptcy. So I am out $6000 to these jerks so if you think I am bitter you are correct and will let everyone know what my experience was with these guys. BTW I had a Heatmor for 18 years till it finally rusted and had zero problems during that time and now have a Woodmaster ,going into year 2 with it and zero problems.

Smakman,
Stay away from Heatmaster at all costs! They are poor units and the company and warranty are horrible. There are lots of good units out there and this is not one of them in my opinion and I owned one for one terrible winter and it was enough to convince me.

Lots of good choices out there. Just stay away from Heatmaster, this one is garbage in my opinion and the company sucks!

Igrnlwn...Sounds like you have a Heatmaster. Had this happen 66 times last year and finally the piece of crap caught on fire itself. Have a woodmaster now burning the exact same wood and the fire has not gone out since Oct 3. I learned alot too and that is that Steeltech is a lousy company and their Heatmaster stoves are absolute junk.
