Guy I know has a tree cutting service. Had a job on the Indiana University campus, and offered free wood.
I got two car trailer loads of logs, and his crew loaded my pickup bed with rounds each time. Mix of cherry, ash (of course) and maple. Cut the logs down to length and rolled them off the trailer.
Plenty more i could have gotten, but I was tuckered out.
Got my big Husqv to going and spent the day cutting up tornado downed tree tops on the farm. Lots of splitting in my future. Wiil be my first attempt at a Holsen Haus. The things that amuse some people!
Have a nice fire going and sipping on 12 year old VanWinkle- well deserved...

Sweet!
Nothing like free firewood and a little help loading to boot.

Nice score! :thumb: Free wood is the best!

Congrats. I also have a friend with a tree service and when he has a job to big for his trucks and trailers to haul, he calls me. I help cleaning brush while he loads my dump trailer. You wouldn't believe how much wood they can get in a 14x7 dump.

He called me again yesterday to get more. I asked what he would charge to deliver, since it had to be loaded and hauled off site. For a hundred bucks they are running out a massive truck with a dump bed full of the remaining logs and rounds.
I am good for the season and well into next year. One of the gals in the office who lives nearby, said she enjoys splitting wood. Time for a bonfire and neighborhood gathering!

I like the bonfire idea. Ya gotta take advantage of that free labor when you can.
Every time I mention cutting or splitting they seem to run the other direction. Wife and daughter included.
