thanks for all the info but my boss has better ideas he's going to replace the 3 1/2 yr old classic , with the new bigger model. i asked why would you do it again 10,000 for 3 1/2 years what a bargain.

Pintopaul -  I completely understand your point of view.  I have been so frustrated with this unit since I've owned it.  My changes have made a world of difference with this unit.  I am also running this year a Wood Doctor HE10000 which is less tempermental and a much simpler design.  But any research on that company will tell you I'm on my own with that one.  They're out of business.  Luckily I got it cheap and only slightly used.  So between the two units I'm pretty well covered for my high heat demand.  I have looked into Portage and Main with a unit up to 600k BTU, but I've found that they are new on the market too.  So we'll let them test it for a few years and work out any bugs, then I'll think about it.  Until then, as long as my current 2 units keep running I'm happy.
