Canadian price almost $2000 less from G200 to 4000 as well . G4000 does put out less btu but look how many guys only fill 1/3 of firebox. Easy decision for us as Central Boilers warranty not worth much up here. My Eclassic 2300 11 years and still running though 😁

Sad to see pitting  in this location. My standard steel Eclassic 2300 is on year 11 and has 0 corrosion under ash line . It’s harder for a dealer that didn’t sell the product to get warranty. I’m sure, like corrosion warranty on your car it’s no good for surface rust until the hole goes through 100% and leaks  :-\ . I stopped wasting money on central boilers Ashtroll and spend little on lime that actually neutralize the acid in firebox. Stack temps will be much higher on a stove after ash and dirt start to cover heat exchanger. Should see the galvanizing flake off flue pipes of oil fired water heaters after a few years  :o .

Well, I know for a fact I can heat my 32x48 for under $250 with $.89 LP so there's that. Little things called design temp and heating degree days will tell that tale every time with a heat loss calc. Sorry about your poor insulation and poor heater efficiency, my math was simply a correlation of the BTU usage estimated by you- which was obviously way wrong. Surely didn't mean to strike a chord with you and I'm sorry for trying to help. Enjoy processing 5-6 cord of wood every year to heat your garage
You sound like our heat pump loving salesman where I work as a HVAC service tech. I sure get tired of trying to explain to customers why the bill was higher and they didn’t save the money they were told 😂😂😂.

First of all, you gave the estimated heat load by saying 2-3 cord. That includes a hefty amount of ground loss (yes, even good line loses a lot of heat), so likely closer to 2 cord actually going into the building. As I said above, I have never paid more than $1.09 for LP. Ever. If you're paying market price of $1.55 that's entirely your fault for not pre-buying when the price is low. For grins though, let's try again with the 2 cord number AKA 25,000,000 BTU and 80% efficiency from the Modine which makes 73,200 BTU per gallon. That comes out to 342 gallons of LP. So Even if you were for some reason paying $1.55, that's $529 for the winter. Seeing as you already have the Modine in place and I can only assume it's still connected to the tank and needs nothing besides more propane to run, at $529 a year it's still going to take 12-15 years to pay off a new OWB IF the wood was completely free, your labor is worth nothing, and pump took zero electricity to run- which we all know is not the case. Hell, just the pump alone takes $30-120 a year to run depending on motor.

All I'm saying is weigh the options. The majority of us burn wood to save money; maybe have a little fun and get some exercise. Don't let the "freeness" of operation let you lose sight of the huge initial investment and overall cost of each over the lifespan of the stove

I agree about the numbers but let’s face it, an outdoor boiler isn’t just cheap heat but a life style 😂.  How many of us put a boiler in for just the building without adding the car garage, the quad garage, pool, hot tub, hot water AND a fifth wheel trailer.  I put a new high efficiency propane furnace in my house 2 years ago knowing boiler is on borrowed time but you know what? I froze, kept turning up thermostat and it never feels as warm as temperature rise of hot water coil. I know , different furnaces have better temperature rise than some. Our next house will be in floor heating and I keep looking at G100 because I’m going to save money no matter how much it costs me LOL

Heatmaster for the win.i don’t have either stove but have done enough research on both units and after 28 years of heating industry doing mostly service my mind is made up 8)

Heating a pool is a quick way to make your wood boiler system pay for itself in half the estimated recovery period. BUT be warned ,when your wife experiences 90*f pool water it will never get used again without 85*f minimum  :o . Happy wife ,happy life lmao  ;D

I’ll buy who ever makes the better product  : . In 2005 it was a Bombardier outlander 400 (can-am) made in Canada right ? Till 2006 when all the quads got built in Mexico lmao, so much for supporting your Country. If it makes you guys feel better I own 2 Polaris products now  8)  Anybody know how to shrink picture on IPad ?

Pressure test held and 2” black pipe fits snug enough at both ends to get my Eclassic welded again.Central boiler did actually give decent discount on new 7500 edge HD but price isn’t that far off G200S with shipping and purchasing new warranty on the 750 ( discounted 750 runs original 2300 Eclassic warranty). My dealer here has been good but after pool season I might just make Canada great again with a Heatmaster lol  >: ;D

My Central boiler dealer had me send Picts of hole as he’s trying to get me credit towards new classic edge🤨. My issue is he has an older model in stock with the internal clean out cover over rear tubes. Website shows external door on rear of stove now. Looks to me like bit of a junker, EPA test shows no better than my old Eclassic AND less efficient rating for low and high fire🙄. Dealer has treated me very well all along but I’m not a fan of this new 550 design. Let’s face it , any issues and I’ll need another line of credit just to ship a new stove back for Central boiler warranty approval. Here’s pict of hole 🙂

My Eclassic has smoke bypass but I live in wooded valley with downdrafts AND central boiler never had smoke curtain at the front. Basically doesn’t work very well at all lol. Going to drive to stocking dealer in a couple weeks to look at G200S. After pulling old one apart it may get smaller 2” pipe installed and welded at both ends, going to plug hole and pressure test to 1 psi first before paying welder lol 😂

My Eclassic 2300 got huge leak in primary air tube last week. Pin hole was welded 2 years ago in main firebox so at 9 years of use I’m thinking I need to replace . Much input on The G200S yet? It’s $1700 less here in Canada so I’m thinking a little more smoke in the face won’t kill me right away lol.

Central Boiler / Re: The use of ashtrol
« on: October 24, 2017, 08:46:32 PM »
Lime is now what I use in my Eclassic 2300. It's starting it's 9th year so I'm not worried about warranty. I put ashtrol on the sides every day and on the wood every couple of days for the first 7 years and also had dry sides from fire going out (long work hours). Last year I done some tests with ashtrol, lime, acid and steel wool in some cups with water so now I don't buy ashtrol anymore  ;)

I seem to remember a guy on here a few years back with a stainless boiler that rotted out in only a few months from a salt water filter on his pool and a stainless heat exchanger, I think it as well was 409, Marty, you always comment on your exhaust on your truck being 409, how do you think it would hold up if 3 years in you were to put it in a pressure test?
.
Salt water pool heat exchanger should've been Titanium NOT stainless. You can't blame boiler failure  8)on poor plumbing choice. Even quads are using stainless exhaust very successfully so I don't understand your thoughts.
My Eclassic 2300 is starting its year #9 with a tiny leak welded 18 month ago .With that said my Central Boiler dealer was at County plowing match and had Edge 550 stainless on display.ONLY stainless model prices listed LOL . I think the writing is on the wall over stainless vs plate steel. 8)
