« on: September 30, 2015, 01:16:02 PM »
Drained Central Boiler 6048 for the first time after three seasons. Added new ihibitor and filled, haven't fired it up yet. Will I need to bleed any air out of the system or will it be ok?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / cardboard burn with no water?
« on: May 25, 2015, 02:40:19 PM »
Shut my boiler down yesterday and I`m going to drain and refill this year (3 seasons on it) Has anyone done a carboard burn with the water drained to help remove the creasote from the inside? Good or bad idea?  Also need two gallons of rust inhibitor. Where to buy and what should I pay.

Central Boiler / 6048 solenoid fuse
« on: January 18, 2015, 02:52:59 PM »
This is the 3rd season with my 6048. The 1amp slow burn fuse has blown 4 times this year. Not once the first two seasons. What might be causing this? Is the damper door sticking and causing this fuse to blow?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / telephone poles
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:24:32 AM »
Other than the smell, is there any reason I shouldn`t burn old telephone poles in my 6048? Have a guy that can get me as much as I can take. They are paying to get rid of them now.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Temp Guages
« on: January 21, 2014, 04:34:32 AM »
I got a couple strap on temp guages on Line from Boston Heating Supply ($20.00 pc). I wanted to see how much I have lost on the return line. First thing I did is took the guages to the basement and straped them on a 1" copper line side by side. There is a 6 degree difference between the two guages. Not gonna do me much good.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Wood Pellets
« on: January 26, 2013, 07:35:01 AM »
Has anybody ever burnt wood pellets in a CB 6048 or something similar? Can it be done or not so good of an idea? Have a couple ton left over and wont be needing them, thanks to the new 6048.
Also what are some reasons I have creasote build up in my fire box, not sure what is considered alot but it seems to always have it. Tried the cardboard burn to get rid of it and didnt seem to work. Thanks in advance,  Pit Crew.

Central Boiler / Nasty black stains
« on: December 01, 2012, 05:20:32 PM »
I`m sure many if not all of you have those nasty black stains below your door on you OWF.  After thousands of dollars invested in the boiler it really bothered me to have these stains come after the first fire. Its like getting a new car and your first drive you run through some tar with it getting all over your new ride. I tried a couple clearners and the stuff didn`t budge. Well I found some stuff that took it off with little to no effort. It`s made by Meeco`s  Its called Red Devil Glass cleaner. Its for glass doors on wood burners. Great stuff. Works great on the smoke film above your door also. It costs less than $7.00 a bottle. Highly recomend it.

General Discussion / New owner here
« on: November 28, 2012, 01:41:07 AM »
Great site here guys.  Got a new boiler installed about three weeks ago and this site has been alot of fun and help. Have a 18x21 Eagle carport coming this Monday (Dec 3rd) Finally. Have been very, very patient  with Eagle carports. New CB 6048 will sit under with just the stack sticking out . I built a foundation for the car port  like a pole barn with posts in ground and caped with 4x4 rails to support carport. Will post some pics next week. :pic:
Tons of information here and lots of smart members. I`ve got over 9 hours logged in to the site here (love how it keeps track of that) and I see many many more to come
Have my morning coffe with you guys everyday.  Thanks again, Pit Crew.
