Crown Royal / Re: Anyone in here running a crown ????

A lot of chatter on facebook how good they look, just can't find anyone with experience running their MP or Pristine series.   No one burning?

From what ive read, the MP is new to this year as well as their updated Prestine Series. I have talked to a handful of people that are running their old gasser and have had good things to say about them.

They definitely look nice, I will be interested to see how well they all do this year, it looks like a few guys on the FB groups have purchased either the MP or the Prestine for this burning season.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Purchasing New Wood Boiler

I'm in southeast Michigan, I heated 4500 sqft with a G200 with. no problem. Very easy to use maintenance-free unit. I'm upgrading to a larger stove because I just added on another 2,000 square feet and I don't want to be walking the line to thin.

time to officially let it go out, had the damper stick 3 times in the past 24hours....did it to me once all season prior....the warmer temps and long idle times are screaming " SHUT ME DOWN " hahahaha

Just think...for us Michigan guys the heating season is only 5 months away!

DONT REMIND ME

It would be really interesting to let the G2 give it a try. I think it could but burn times might get too short in cold weather.

I thought about it, but i think it would be cutting it to close. im sure it could handle it for the most part, but i think i would rather have a bit of flexibility. Once i run out of wood, with that heat load, its going to drop the water temp quick. The new building is also going to be all radiant in floor.

ATF lasts better. I've used it several times.
I'm burning year round, no break for my GS100.
Dad showed me a picture of your building going up Dylan. Impressive, that'll make a boiler chew through wood.

I lubed it up with ATF at the beginning of the season, didn't have any issues until it started to go 4-6 hours idle at a time. I just loaded it up for its last time with a bunch of 2 x 4 scraps from the barn build. Yeah the building is looking nice. Definitely going to chew through wood. this will put me at about 7,000 sqft and 2 buildings using DHW (house for 3 kids and kennel building for 15 dogs). Ill be upgrading to a bigger unit, still narrowing down my choices. not sure yet! I got the summer to figure it out

I'm curious what other guys think but I think maintenance isn't significantly different with the newer style gassers. Dylan, others, thoughts?

This G200 is the most low maintenance stove I have ever ran by a long shot...

How does you unit like eating slab wood verse normal split stuff?

Slab wood burns great for me! the stuff I get has a good bit of meat on it though

put it this way.....last year I heated 3000sqft with a 2015 Heatmor 400 conventional and I burned about 12 full cords. This year im heating 4500 sqft and will only be at about 9 cords.
