I have a few videos on my channel.  Here is a cleanout video.  There are a few more, but not many tutorial videos.  My next video, when I get around to it, is a video of my plate exchanger setup.

Mr. Sheapard Boy has it all right. Another thing you can do at the end of each burning season, and sometimes at the halfway point in the season, is take the air channel off completely and suck out all the ash where the air channel meets the underside of the stove. Lots of ash can build up back there and get blown up the air channel and cause a boil over. The first time you pull that channel off, you'll really have to pull hard to break that seal.

At the first sign of a boil over, go back there and clang the damper. It'll feel gritty at first until you hear a clear clang sound and it closes completely. I've trained all my family and friends who load my stove how to check this.

Guys, I tried to tell this to Slim on FB a few weeks ago.  Clearly he didn't get the message.

Slim, like I said in the FB post, you are loosing all kinds of respect from all kinds of guys on this forum.  You might be getting some scant support from the newbies on the OWB FB page.  But, that's because they don't know your history like we do.  I'm not going to get into your history right now, but I will if I have to.  I for one am going to try again to be civil.

If you really want to help people like you have in the past, like you say you do, you are seriously going to have to move on. And not just SAY you're trying to move on, because clearly you aren't.  You may not be bashing HM or the Friesens directly like you have in the past, but your attitude and demeanor have not moved on.  You are turning everyone off and probably going to start hurting the traffic on these sites.  I for one stop reading the threads when you get involved and everyone gets pissy.  Like I told you in a FB message, I've got better things to do that read other people complaining and carrying on.  That means that the thread dies and the problem might not get solved.

You have been booted from the OWF FB page, and now I understand you've got a timeout on this forum too.  Different admins, different guys. You're pissing them off everywhere you go.  You have only yourself to blame for that.  Not HM, not the Friesens, not Eldon or Marty, not me.  Just you.

HeatMaster / Re: MF e models- what percentage do you run your draft at?
« on: November 14, 2017, 09:26:52 AM »
I have a 10k and have always run at 100%.  I've never had a creosote problem.  My dealer and several other guys on here say the 10k and 20k need to run 100%.

HeatMaster / Re: wood in front burning up..
« on: March 01, 2017, 07:39:19 AM »
I'm running a 10,000.  When the ash pan is completely empty, my stuff up front burns up faster, and I load the front heavy.  As the ash pan fills up, the heavier burn migrates towards the back.  If you have a decent coal bed the entire length of the grates, it should eventually burn the stuff in the back.

The shoulder season, which we are ironically in now (IN FEBRUARY) is a little more prone to this.  My fire has gone out 3 times this season because it has been so warm.

Is the same video that's on the face book page?  Regardless, that's impressive.  I've had a couple of those happen to me.  Both times I was brain dead when I went to add wood to the OWB and forgot to open the by-pass door.  One remembers to duck rather quickly.  Roger

Yeah, I put it on the good Facebook page.

HeatMaster / Re: Water Pump Preferences?
« on: January 11, 2017, 05:44:42 AM »
I'm running the badger as well.  I'm running two actually.  I had one pump go out just before the 1 year warranty expired.  With the help of my dealer, I got it replaced painlessly.  I'm in my 4th season now with these pumps and crossing my fingers every day.  They are noisy.  I need a bigger pump, so my next pump will likely be a Taco 011 or a larger Grundfos.  I lay awake sometimes waiting for my badgers to die.

I agree. That's the short term fix. You will want to clean the air cute mid season if it keeps happening and clean out where the cute turns and goes into the stove. I explain this very well in my clean out video.

HeatMaster / Re: Miss the smell
« on: December 05, 2016, 08:38:48 AM »
The stagnant idle smoke usually does smell bad, but there isn't a ton of it.  Little wisps that you can only smell near the stove.  When my stove is running, it doesn't smell bad at all.  Smells about like a campfire smoke.  I'm the only one in my family that can tell if the stove is running or idle just from the smell.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: How full do you fill your stove?
« on: October 11, 2016, 09:20:21 AM »
The conventional wisdom is to only put in enough to get you to your next fill.  One definitive reason is you will have significantly less smoke as the wood will char much sooner than if the box is stuffed full.

My thoughts exactly Mr. Coolidge!  No way would I tackle a monster like that!  My maximum diameter gradually gets smaller and smaller each year!  I'm sitting around 24" maximum now.  I try to limit myself to whatever I can lift onto the splitter in horizontal position.  Too much work for the really big stuff.
