Have you checked Northern Tool?

They have a kit for sale.  For $499 you get a 5" cylinder, anchor plate, and wedge.   The only thing is, its a 24" stroke.

I have their 37 ton, Honda powered log splitter and it has this exact same cylinder, plate and wedge.  I love the wedge because it has a point at the top that gets into the wood first before the main part of the wedge, this holds the wood from sliding up off the wedge. It works well.

Most likely you'll end up with a 24 or 30" cylinder, those are the standard lengths, you might want to stay away from something like a 27" cylinder as it could have been a special application and could very likely be expensive to rebuild.

Yes I did see that looking more for the 30" 24" is what my splitter is now ..

Mlappin.. I will keep that in mind I didn't know about the 27".
