General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Fired up!
« on: October 12, 2018, 07:32:24 PM »
Today fired up my wood boiler for the 2018/19 heating season..Pretty nice not hearing the oil boiler firing up.. Highs only in the 50's and lows in the 30's and 20's coming up in NH..Ive been reading that households should expect higher heating oil costs this yr compared to last yr, yuck! Burn wood!

Aqua-Therm / Aqua-Therm Bites the dust
« on: October 01, 2018, 07:18:06 PM »
So i was reading on bbb.org that Aqua-Therm had to close its doors..Someone made a complaint on there and Aqua-Therm responded that is closed due to EPA regulations, R&D testing costs, low fuel prices, and the new 2020 industry regulations.. :-\

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Spare Parts
« on: April 02, 2018, 07:08:55 PM »
Being a outdoor wood boiler owner for 10 years now..One thing I highly recommend is stocking up on spare parts for your boiler.. For example, Today I came home and my wood boiler was overheating..First thing I thought is was my fan flapper..Nope..Turns out it was my door rope..I could hear a draft being sucked at the bottom of the door..Thank goodness I have a couple of door ropes.Otherwise I would of been screwed..You never know what will happen and in a pinch you'll need that part to keep rolling..

Central Boiler / 409 Stainless
« on: February 02, 2018, 08:25:04 PM »
So month or so ago i posted "leak" about my current boiler (Aqua-Therm)..I haven't fixed it yet being cold and being a waiting game..So anyways I called a Central Boiler local dealer just to find out prices etc, (Just out of curiosity)..So the local dealer told me Central Boiler is doing away with carbon steel and going 409 stainless steel on all there boilers this yr..I guess theres been issues with customers not maintaining the water and burning green wood, which shortens the life of the boiler..Edge stainless 550 is shy of 10k!

« on: December 14, 2017, 06:50:45 PM »
Well my Aqua-Therm has sprung a leak somewhere around the door ring on the inside of the boiler I'm assuming..(I could be wrong) :(..I called the guy who sold me the boiler 10 yrs ago.. I explained to him about everything on the situation..He said he'll call me in a couple of days and will stop by..I really hope this is a quick weld fixing and thats it.. If can't be fixed, might be looking for a new one ugh..(its a money thing lol) Ill keep you guys informed

So I see that Aqua-Therm has teamed up with Wood Boiler USA with the Blaze HE phase 2 wood boiler and soon coming pellet boiler..Seen a few videos  on it..By looking at it, it seems be a large gassifaction boiler compared to the competition..

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Minor issue with boiler..
« on: February 13, 2015, 08:30:18 PM »
Well today I came home from work..As normal esp this time of the yr I check the boiler out..Well I noticed the water temp was way low..I figured that the fire was low and I needed to add  few pieces of wood before the fill up for the night..Well I opened the door and there was plenty of wood in it...Im like huh kinda weird..I heard the fan on but no moving air..So i flicked the fan switch off then turned it back on..Something didn't seem right..I opened the back of the boiler up..Looked at the fan..Well the fan was on and the flapper was still closed..The spring broke that lifts the flapper up to allow the fan to suck air lol.. Good thing I have spare parts..I highly recommend you guys to have backup parts..pumps, gaskets, fans, flappers, etc.. It will save you in a pinch like what happened to me today.. Burn Wood! ;D

Hopfully this coming winter won't be as bad lol..Now its time to fill the pole shed back up..Grapple load is all cut..I got a few rows already split and stack..Still got a ways to get done..But it will go quick.. 8)

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Fair Season
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:04:37 PM »
So today I went to the Fryeburg Fair which is in Maine...So I saw 3 different manufacture setups of OWB phase 2.. Portage +Main, Empyer, and Heatmor.....The Empyer and the Portage+Main were fired up...They were def smokeless.. I was impressed with that..Also saw the Portage+Main that burns the wood chips..Wood chips are in a hopper and then augured in the fired when needed..Wood chips are green chipped 4 days old... Gotta say they are def nice boilers...I was susprised that I didnt see Central Boiler there.. Only due cause they are popular..Oh ya I fired up my OWB today..Happy burning guys!

I went on the Central Boiler web sight..They have a new wood splitter's called Stryker.. Looks pretty neat..Looks like the wedge can split wood in either direction (forward, backward)..Anyone seen one at a fair or anything?
