Lowes. 25-20% is good. Anything under 20% is great

Fire Wood / Re: Any Tricks to Burning Green Wood

Solar kiln. Start with a pallet or two. Lay down clear plastic sheeting 10x25' roll and cut slits in the bottom to allow drainage.  Stack your wood on it, then cover with remaining sheeting. Be sure it is and area that  will get the most possible sun. Radiant heating will draw out moisture and it will drain down the sides of the plastic and drain out the bottom slits. Don't expect a miracle but if you can leave it a month or 2 it will pull off a lot of moisture.

That is why I'm working on getting 3 years ahead. Green wood only gives us OWB burners a black eye.

Cut my teeth, or should I say first wood with a Stihl MS250. I have since added an MS261c. May soon round out the 40/50/60cc trio with MS362c or 562xp.

Love my Fiskars. I have 2 the x25 and the x27. Bought the x25 first as it was all they had at my Walmart used it for about 6 months but felt it was a little to short. Found the x27 and now I just keep the little x25 on the four wheeler for those times I need  a splitter in the field.

The reason I want it at the OWB is to monitor high/low temp conditions. Not sure placing it at the heat exchanger would give me enough warning time of a boil over or fire out condition.

Muffin, thanks for the input. Are you using the single prob model or dual prob?

Electronics / Temperature monitoring.
« on: January 22, 2014, 11:53:26 AM »
Hello all. First time poster with a Hardy H2. I am looking for options on remote temperature monitoring. All I wasn't too do is have the ability to monitor high/low temp at the OWB. In the event of low temp such as fire out, or high temp because of a stuck flapper or door open. I have looked at the digital readout that RSI sells as well as a wireless BBQ monitor. Abby and all suggestions welcome.
