Title: First Fire
Post by: JOWEN on October 18, 2015, 09:33:21 AM
The wife fired the H5 up while I was at work last night. I hope that we can let it burn out by the middle of the week.

Where is the insulated "slide" panel that goes between the firebox door and the ash pan door?

I dont know what slide panel you are refering too. After looking at the picture again I have never had any panel on the front of mine H5. I bought this new two years ago and the dealer delivered it and I installed it. Do you have a picture of one?

I have a panel on my H5 that is about 5 years old.  I don't think it's insulated at all I just thought it was used to cover the gap between the 2 doors.  I will look at it closer when I get home tonight..  If I remember right it looks like it just slides in and is stainless like the outside is.

Yes it is stainless just like the rest of the stove, but mine has may a 2" piece of insulation on the back side to insulate the gap between the doors. It slides in from the right or left just under the top loading door and above the ash door behind the "collar frame" of the doors.
I found this under the Hardy webpage manual for the H-2 through H-5... Your stove should have......page 3, listed as #7.... Stainless steel panel and insulation that will be located between the firebox door & ash door after installation of the heater.
