Taylor k-1510 test kit for testing boiler water for P & M

Is there a less expensive water test kit that will be acceptable for testing the boiler water for P & M warranty? Currently, it's $90 for the Taylor k-1510 test kit. Thanks.

Oaky, we currently test it for you for free, Please do it that way so that corporate has a record of the test

I was given a bottle to put a water sample in, and then told I would have to be charged for the test, or I could purchase the Taylor kit. This was mentioned at the time I picked up the boiler in March. Unless I misunderstood him.

some where there is a misunderstanding, if you send the sample to us, there is no charge for the test

That probably is a better way than buying the kit. Maybe Dave was referring, he would need to charge for the test, I recall now he said the first one is free.

Just checked my Installation/Operation Manual give to me at the time of picking up my stove, it says to send my water sample to your dealer, $20 per test. So, I'm not sure.

I and my customers have always sent them to our office and there is no charge for testing, perhaps he is talking about shipping.

Ok, thank you Slimjim. I'll do that after I contact P & M to be sure I send the water sample to the right department. May be filling my boiler up in a couple of weeks making certain everything is AOK.

So, just to be certain they need the water sample in order to know how much of the boiler treatment needs to be added to the water, correct?

 I am not sure how things are set up in the US but here my water sample went to Heat Smart Plus in Prince Albert Sask. There is no charge for testing and they send you a reply to notify you if there is a problem. I only had to pay shipping.
 Also I do believe I read in the owners manual regarding samples to let water/treatment circulate for 48 hrs and send in a sample prior to heating the water.
 If you have any questions call P&M and I'm sure they will clarify the required procedure.
