I put glycol propolene in my 4030 this year 50/50. I havent noticed a difference in wood usage at all. Gives me a good feeling when we go to u.p. of mich. for 3 or 4 days snowmobiling and don't have to get the neigbor to keep wood in it.

I live in northern Mi. my boiler is about 130' ft. from my house . I have the same temp and probe setup.
I loose exactly 10 degrees from the boiler to just inside the basment wall. I have the thermopex insulated pipe. I bought from central boiler. $12.50 a lin.ft.

Ryan, I have a 4030 C.B. I heat 1250 sq.ft. with it . I have to fill it every 12 to 16 hrs. depending on the outside temp. I live in northern mi. I have a pole barn and garge but had no intention to heat them. I dont think the stove could handle anymore without shorter burn times . I love the boiler. Do you have creasote dripping out the bottom of the door all the time ? I do and I cant figure it out. I burn 2 yr. seasoned hard wood. My boiler is set at 180

Central Boiler / ANTIFREEZE IN A FORCED AIR SYSTEM ?
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:56:58 PM »
I have a 4030 C.B. with a forced air system. I am leaving town for about 10 days the end of January. I live in Mich. My question is the Dealer and other folks with the same setup said my boiler water would not freeze if I left the boiler pump running and run my forced air furnace when I am gone. Does this make sence or do people use antifreeze in there boiler with a forced air system.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Pipe Thread Sealer
« on: November 17, 2010, 05:46:51 PM »
Does anyone know what the best pipe sealer is to use. I had threaded pipe joints on some of my fittings on my hot water heater when I plumbed my heat exchanger . Also compression fittings from pex to threaded fittings. My boiler has been operating approx. 1 month and 50% of my fittings have a slow drip. I used a green thread sealer. I just purchased a blue heavy duty teflon tape sealer. Will handle heat up to 600 degrees. I just wonder if anybody has a better idea before I redo the fittings.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: SETTING TEMP ON A C.B.
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:48:14 AM »
Thanks for the info, I have a 4030 central boiler also . Heating 1250 sq.ft. with side arm heat to my water heater. I guess I have never turned the gas off to my water heater to know if I would run out of hot water. This is my first winter with it . I live in mi. I hope the unit is big enough. The dealer asured me it was. Last night it got down to 29. I put 4 peices of oak in it when I left for work this morning it still had 3 peices in it @ 7:00 a.m. approx. 10 hr.
