Title: New Tutorial Videos
Post by: userdk on February 07, 2018, 07:26:38 PM
HeatMaster is uploading some new tutorial videos for G-Series maintenance/repairs to their youtube channel. So far they've covered door gaskets, changing spirals, replacing the damper/actuator, replacing the controller and changing fuses.

There's a lot more to the story......
Lots of flammable material near the stove, wooden building.... basic fire safety issues were ignored against dealers advice. If I remember right there was some hired help involved.

I've seen this video before as well.  He has comments disabled, which tells me he isn't interested in questions.  One sided stores don't sit well with me.

yah that was gold plated and had platinum for roofing shingles….

$125,000 for a wood shed, really?

I really find it hard to believe their dealer recommended installing a stove inside thats not rated for inside.

Dealer set it on a pad. Someone built a 'shed' later.  Was told by the dealer he got a different brand stove to replace it and set it 300' away and no shed close.

Oh, so it was built later, i thought maybe it was the original structure that their great great great grandma was born in or something and the $125,000 was for the “historical” value of the shed.

There is a reason the call the outdoor wood burning units. They belong outside. If you want in indoor stove, buy one meant for inside a building.

The G is UL approved for indoor installations, if people ask though I tell em they can, but I won’t install it indoors. If nothing else pour a large pad and get a all metal carport to put over it. I plan on covering mine one of these days, will be metal roof with all exposed wood clad in flashing.

Still looking for the actuator video if anyone has it.  Mine needs a good cleaning before I fire it back up.

I don't see it on there. I guess there must have been one at one time.
But it's not really that hard to clean, I usually mark the disc which way is up, remove the two long bolts that hold the actuator so it comes out with the shaft still attached. Remove the disc from the shaft (don't lose the spring) and scrape it clean. Scrape the air box clean. The whole air box can be removed by loosening the two nuts on each side. Scrape it and the hole through the water jacket out if needed. If the old gasket is loose I  use silicone to reseal the air box to the water jacket.
Reassemble taking care to mount the disc with the same side up, and make sure the shaft is inserted into the socket in the air box and not binding.

Thank you sir.  I cleaned it last night and it was a simple process.  I just reused the fabric gasket for the air box, not sure what that is made of or if I need to add silicone.

No, if it was in good shape the old gasket is fine.
