aquastat location

i am building a new stove but i am unshure on aquastat and high limit well location front, back, top, bottom? if it makes any differance it is a p&m ml series design slightly modified. does it make any differance on location? any info would be helpfull

Front of back shouldn't matter but you want it up high but low enough that is will never be out of the water if it gets low or boils over.

Any thoughts on how much distance to keep between the aquastat/ high limit well and the fire box . I also have exhaust heat exchanger going through the water jacket also. Hopefully I'm just over thinking this

My experience has shown that nearest to the hot water outlet as possible to be the best location. It seems to make for the most usable and reliable settings. If you have a high limit cut out to prevent boiling over then near the top as possible but give at least 3 inches space from the top to keep an accurate reading as the water level fluctuates.
