Pools & Hot Tubs / Re: Connecting the hot tub on the P&M
« on: August 08, 2018, 07:32:35 PM »
Well sorry for the late reply ! After a bit of trial error, yes you definetely need to T the line to the heat exchanger, connecting it inline have too much flow restriction + the tub was heating up too quickly and was shutting off thinking the element was dry...

And a 3way valve work if you plug it on the element, you just have to be carefull on which phase your connecting it too, the tub controller only switch off 1 phase for the heating element on/off circuit.

But so far we are 2 months with and the 5kw heating element as been off ;)

Pools & Hot Tubs / Connecting the hot tub on the P&M
« on: April 27, 2018, 06:32:13 PM »
Looking to connect my hot tub on the boiler, anyone have advices? About 400 Gallons, Not sure which Heat exchanger to use, I see the 88kbtu is recommanded for this size of tub, but am not sure about the connection, they are only 1" on the tub side,, and my whole hot tub is 2". If i want to keep 2", i have to go on a 300kbtu heat exchanger which might be too much.

Also connection wise, i was thinking of connecting a 3 way valve on the heat element, so when the hot tub ask for heat, the 3 way valve open, send the water from the boiler to the heat exchanger and when it reach it's temp, it will be just looping the flow from the boiler, any advice on this?

Thanks guys,

Anyone have experience on a solar water collector added up to the boiler loop? They are fairly cheap now, and was thinking it could help with Wood Usage during day at least... Anyone have this kind of setup?

We got about 80 Acres here that we have bought about 1.5 Yr Ago, but most of the wood is cedar and pine... I don't think it any good to burn, maybe mixed with something else, like I said, really a rookie at this whole Outside wood boiler stuff, still figuring out... But so far, really enjoying the free heat (well not exactly free, but when you compare to the 5K last year it costed in propane... this year it's almost free :)

Thanks for all the info ;) appreciate the help

Just as a for my info, live in Ontario Canada, so cold -30C seem to happen often this year. Do you think thoses setting are optimals or i could play with?

On 180F
Off 192F
Damper fully on

Seem to have about a 5F difference from the aquastat and thermometer wrapped analog with thermopaste wrapped around the outlet pipe.

Omce inside the house , am loosing about 5F over 120ft (not bad considering the pipe is only burried 18”) and there about a 10F from running thru the house heat exchanger and my sidearm.

Thx

Every thing else is sti
